Frisco, Silverthorne, and Dillon are all five minutes from each other and are all centrally located near the highway and the infamous Lake Dillon.  While Frisco and Dillon share the unique town feelings of a quaint main street, Silverthorne is the shopping hub of Summit County and is the place to go to get just about anything you may need.  It offers the expansive outlet stores, hardware store, dealerships, and much more.  All of these towns sit at a lower elevation than Breckenridge.  Even though none of these towns have a ski resort in them, they are the best place to be for quick access to the seven ski resorts in the area. They all offer good camp sites, great trails for hiking and biking,and they have the Blue River running through them for a great catch.

Lake Dillon is a summer hot spot for sailors from around the world.  Even if you are not a sailor, you can enjoy kayaking, canoing, fishing, or just spending an afternoon on a pontoon boat.  There are marinas in both Frisco and in Dillon, each with their own restaurants.
